Day 1 – Into the Countryside 🌴🍛

Route: Paramaribo → Saramacca → Coronie
Distance: ± 190 km

Your journey starts from Paramaribo as you drive west through Saramacca, where you’ll visit rural farms and enjoy homemade local treats. After lunch, continue toward Coronie for a walking tour through coconut-lined streets and colonial homes. Settle in for an overnight stay near the quiet coastline.

Day 2 – Rice Fields & Wetlands 🌾🐦

Route: Coronie → Wageningen → Nieuw-Nickerie (with optional Bigi Pan tour)

Start with a cultural exploration of Nieuw-Nickerie, including the seawall and historical sites. Then begin the return journey to Paramaribo, with scenic roadside stops along the way.

Your day begins with a short drive to the lush trails of Peperpot Nature Park in Commewijne. Spot monkeys, parrots, and remnants of the colonial past while walking through the old plantation.

After a light lunch, continue along the East-West highway toward Moengo, with scenic stops en route. Arrive in the artistic jungle town of Moengo for a restful overnight stay.

Day 2 – Borderland & French Charm 🇸🇷🇫🇷

Route: Moengo → Albina → Saint-Laurent (Frans-Guyana) → Albina/Moengo
Distance: ±80 km (round trip)

Today you head east to Albina, a small border town on the Marowijne River. Cross by pirogue to Saint-Laurent du Maroni, in French Guiana. Enjoy a taste of Europe with a visit to the local market, shops, or the French supermarket Super U.

After lunch and free time, cross back and return to Albina or Moengo for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 – Cultural Ride Back 🛶🌄

Route: Moengo/Albina → Paramaribo
Distance: ±160 km

After breakfast, enjoy a quiet morning walk or riverside moment before starting the return trip.

The tour begins with a drive to Wanica and Lelydorp, the multicultural transition between city and inland. After a brief stop, continue toward Para for a warm welcome in a traditional indigenous village.

Learn about age-old customs, enjoy handmade crafts, and share a locally prepared meal. Overnight in the area.

Day 2 – History & Highlands 🛶🏞️

Route: Village → Jodensavanne → Brokopondo Dam → Stone Island
Distance: ±90 km

Start the day at Jodensavanne, where Jewish settlers left a rich but little-known heritage deep in the forest. After exploring the site, continue to the impressive Brokopondo hydrodam.

Suriname, you impressed me. I didn’t know what to aspect but I had always been curious about this country. A country with a lot of beautiful nature and a lot of different culture and most of all a huge history. We made a trip to the jungle with our guide and our private driver and cook. Benny’s Culinary Magic: A Foodie’s Dream Come True - If I had to name one unexpected highlight of this trip, it would be the food. And that’s all thanks to Benny, our head chef and culinary wizard. Every meal was an explosion of flavors, unlike anything I had ever tasted before. His Cassava soup with coconut milk? Rich, creamy, and pure comfort in a bowl. His Ja Zeker? A dish I had never even heard of before this trip, but now I’m obsessed.
